Founded in 1971, PCAS\/ACAS is committed\nto fostering an inclusive, multidisciplinary community dedicated to the study\nof everyday life.&nbsp;We invite diverse approaches, both traditional and\ninnovative, to a wide array of topics in the arts, humanities and social\nsciences and strive to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment for\ninquiry, expression, and learning.&nbsp;We are committed to mentoring new and\nyoung academic professionals, offering guidance and networking opportunities,\nand we strive for the highest standards of scholarship and professional\nintegrity.&nbsp;At our conferences, you will encounter a safe, supportive,\nrespectful, and enjoyable environment where you can express diverse views and\nencounter new ways of thinking about culture. The PCAS\/ACAS is committed to\nproviding an inclusive and harassment-free environment for all, regardless of\ntheir gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression,\ndisability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, geographic location, age,\nor other group identity.&nbsp;In order to ensure a supportive space for all, we\nascribe to the following code of&nbsp;conduct.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These\nbehaviors are unacceptable and will not be tolerated by our members or guests at\nour&nbsp;conferences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Harassing, demeaning, humiliating, bullying, or intimidating others.<\/li><li>Discriminating against others based on gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion,      geographic location, age, or other group\u00a0identity<\/li><li>Harassing or intimidating others based on gender, race, sexual orientation, gender      identity, gender expression, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, geographic location, age, or other group\u00a0identity<\/li><li>Engaging in sexual harassment or intimidation, including unwelcome sexual      attention, stalking (physical or virtual), or unsolicited physical\u00a0contact<\/li><li>Shouting down, threatening, or defaming\u00a0others<\/li><li>Acting in a way that is harmful, physically or emotionally, to\u00a0others<\/li><li>Acting in a way that is disrespectful to others, including loud and disruptive      behavior during conference presentations or\u00a0events<\/li><li>Not respecting others\u2019\u00a0views<\/li><li>Plagiarizing, or presenting material that is not your own without      proper\u00a0attribution<\/li><li>Misrepresenting  your rank or identity during the registration or presentation\u00a0process<\/li><li>Sharing others\u2019 personal information or intellectual property without\u00a0consent<\/li><li>Failing to appear for scheduled presentations without notifying PCAS\/ACAS leadership in the case of\u00a0non-emergency<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers\nshould frame discussions as openly and inclusively as possible and be aware of\nhow language or images may be perceived by others. Attendees\nmay&nbsp;exercise&nbsp;their option to leave a session or a conversation, and\nif asked to leave during an altercation should do&nbsp;so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exhibitors\nmust follow all PCAS\/ACAS exhibit rules, regulations, and&nbsp;policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All\nattendees are expected to follow these guidelines in all convention venues,\nincluding&nbsp;online and at convention social events. Attendees asked to stop\na hostile or harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Please\nreport any physical assault or threats to the hotel staff, PCAS\/ACAS Executive\nBoard member, or local police&nbsp;department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure\nto comply with these guidelines could result in involving hotel security as a\nmeans of&nbsp;addressing the violation.&nbsp;The PCAS\/ACAS reserves the right\nto bar participation in organizational activities for violation of the\nabove&nbsp;policies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Adapted from the PCA National Code of Conduct which is adapted from the guidelines of the Modern Language Association and American Library\u00a0Association<\/em>. <em>PCA version<\/em> <em>revised\u00a09-30-2022.
